Birding Site Guide

Whilst we had gone wrong, and felt that we had wasted a further day, the area between Madagui and the river actually turned up some good birds that we were to see nowhere else. The rice field area was particularly good giving us the only Watercocks of the trip, splendid views of a hunting Pied Harrier, Plain-backed Sparrow, Zitting Cisticola, Oriental Great Reed Warbler, and a number of waterbirds such as Cattle, Little and Great Egrets, Purple Gallinule, Wood Sandpiper and our first of many Chinese Pond Heron.
