Birding Site Guide

 

This national park is renowned as one of the best places to see Chimpanzees in Uganda. The expert guides can be hired at the park’s headquarters. The birding is very good too. Among the sought after species, this is a good place to see Dusky Blue-Flycatcher and Grey-throated Tit-Flycatcher, Masked Apalis, Narrow-tailed- and Chestnut-winged Starling and Blue-headed Sunbird. Other less common species were Dusky Long-tailed Cuckoo, Yellowbill, Red-chested Owlet, African Wood Owl, Narina Trogon, Blue-throated Roller, Yellow-spotted Barbet, Green-grey Bush-Shrike, African Shrike-Flycatcher, Plain- and Honeyguide Greenbul, Brown- and Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, Grey Apalis, Green Crombec, Green- and Blue-throated Brown Sunbird and Red-headed Malimbe.Green-breasted Pitta was heard. 

Grey-cheeked Managey, Angolan Black & White Colobus, Red Colobus, Side-striped Jackal, Common Waterbuck, Kob and Scrub Hare. 


BIGALI MARSH near KIBALE NP This small reserve is a good spot to look for Papyrus Gonolek. Some other species to see here are Tambourine Wood-Dove, Grey Parrot, Great Blue Turaco, Freckled Nightjar, Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird, Slender-billed Greenbul, Grey-winged Robin-Chat, Northern Black Flycatcher, Common Fiscal, Splendid Starling, Brown-throated Wattle-eye, Red-faced Cisticola, African Blue Flycatcher, Copper Sunbird, Bronze Sunbird, Slender-billed Weaver, Holub’s Weaver and Red-headed Malimbe.
