Birding Site Guide

The small wood holds many common species being an oasis in huge open flat arable plains. It also attracts water birds due to the River Torne that flows through it and the large South Engine drain that runs parallel to the river. Migrants can be seen passing spring and autumn as the nearby River Trent to the e is a major flyway. The Isle of Axholme lies to the south and is the only raised ground for miles.
