Birding Site Guide

A series of lakes surrounded by nice woodland are found about 4km from the centre of Volcan. From the main junction in town, head towards Rio Sereno and take the 3rd turning on the left. The 4th and 5th streets will also take you there. Go straight and turn left at the Elsa Supermarket. Then follow the road along. There is a left curve after a while. The road eventually meets the airport runway. Cross over this and continue until you reach the forest. Go right where the road forks. Several trails go down to the water’s edge. Masked Duck can occasional be seen on the lake, although I didn't find it. I saw 69 species including 4 lifers
