Birding Site Guide

Parking is at Druridge Links just east of Widdrington off A1068, there is a train station at Widdrington. There are other areas to park here and all about this area. All the coastal dunes can be accessed via Public Rights of Way which can be followed north to Ladyburn Lake (Hadston) and beyond. To the south it is possible to walk to Cresswell Reservoir and beyond. Places to stay include a caravan park at Cresswell, and there are many Bed & Breakfast places and places to eat and drink.

There are large numbers of birds here particularly waterfowl, with many geese in the winter. The place is a magnet for migrants too and rarities do turn up.

There are many other areas within easy travelling distance of Druridge Bay including Chevington Drift Country Park just inland of Druridge Bay. To the north are the Farne Islands and Holy Island, Fenham Flats (with Guile and Ross Point), Budle Bay and Stag Rocks, Craster, Low Newton. Some of these may have separate write-ups here on BSG, look on the menu or search.
